Now, to smash em together and see the result!
Spooky, aint it?
So, In class we did a critique, and my peers recommended I added more effects to my object, and to make the faces the same material as the couch. So I took their recommendations, added a few more twists, and now we have a couch that really feels like it has sucked in the souls of it's users. Epic. Enthralling (in more than one way). Thank you to Ethan and Emma for your wonderful help and suggestions.
This idea reflects remix culture by taking a familiar, comfortable experience (watching the telly on a comfy couch), and makes the viewer uncomfortable by reflecting human poses and limbs inside the couch, creating a threatening presence. This mashup combines two familiar experiences into a portrayal of a feeling. That feeling being procrastination. However there is a certain horror that comes from forced procrastination that scares us. If we are to waste our own time, we do it on our own free will, however it is no different than being shackled, chained down, and forced to give up your efficiency.
Would you want to sit down in this couch?
Some fun composition things: The old man reclining into the chair is Albert Einstein. Some of the laughing faces are upside down, where the feet should be. They are cool teens who sit upside down. If you look at the two feet at the bottom, and the main face in the middle, you can see a man stretching out in a ball of laughter.
